LOS ANGELES — Danny Green could have been being cheeky when he seized the mic before the Lakers were officially introduced for the first time.
“We promise to work hard on and off the court,” said Green. “And we’ll do better than last year.”
In the long run, Los Angeles is hungry for another championship. But most fans packing Staples Center just wanted to see the Lakers do better than Tuesday night.
On the heels of a season-opening loss to the crosstown Clippers, the Lakers (1-1) got the chance to set their preferred tone in their home arena. Their championship banners were uncovered. Their court tiles were laid down. And on the first actual home game they got to play, they defeated the Utah Jazz 95-86.
